Tombstone Travels - Root Cemetery

If you find backstories intriguing as I do, then traveling to old cemeteries is time well spent. The tombstones don’t provide the backstory itself but, like a well written novel, they provide clues  to enable us to find the answers elsewhere. Plus, the existential nature of these endeavors has the potential to teach us something profound.

I, along with my old friend Phil, have been tinkering with the concept of Tombstone Travels… call it a cemetery vlog. We pick an unusual and, preferably, old cemetery and work the stories backwards. Our latest adventure was to Root Cemetery just about an hour south of Overland Park, Kansas. The look, feel and sound isn’t quite where I want it to be yet but it’s getting closer. I think narration is appropriate rather than simply onscreen text, the music needs to be different too. And some natural interaction between Phil and I about our trip and the questions we’re having would add to it as well.

The adventures themselves are always fun. We have good conversations and we end up asking ourselves things that only such a trip would spark.
